Biography
Donna Levinstone is a native New Yorker who has always had a passion for the sky above and the land/water below. Her work deals with the powerful forces as well as the beauty of nature. Her work is part of many private and public collections throughout the world. Levinstone's drawings were featured in "Rendering The Unthinkable". the inaugural art exhibit at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. These drawings are also a part of the permanent collection at The Library of Congress, The New York Historical Society, and The Museum of the City of New York. Her pastel drawings have been widely exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and Europe. Donna Levinstone's pastel drawings have also been placed in many hospitals and other healthcare-related settings. They have also been used on television and movie sets.
Artist statement
My pastel drawings were done both in color and monochrome to capture a moment in time. My landscapes explore the beauty and powerful forces of nature. These "landscapes of the soul" are about light and atmosphere. I am not concerned with portraying a specific locale as I encourage the viewer to reflect on his own emotions and experiences. Exploration of imagery both large and very small is important to me. My multiple series explores the relationship between images as a story unfolds.
