Biography

Inez Devereaux is a Brazilian-American mixed media artist and fashion designer with over three decades of immersive experience in the Brazilian fashion and contemporary art scene. Her creative journey spans from fashion design to the realm of mixed media, where she paints, creates collages, and transforms recycled materials into new clothes as a form of artistic expression.

Guided by the belief that beneath every brushstroke and fragment lies a universe waiting to be discovered, she dives into a kaleidoscope of imagination. In her world, there are no boundaries—only art as renewal. Each piece carries a story of resilience and reinvention, turning overlooked materials into landscapes of memory and hope.

As an artist working in mixed media, I embark on a journey of limitless creativity, guided by my belief in the boundless beauty of the universe and of human beings. My art rejects ageism and prejudice, celebrating instead the timeless nature of artistic expression.

In the chaos of colors, textures, and forms, I discover harmony. My paintings, collages, and recycled garments reflect my quest to uncover beauty everywhere—even in the most unexpected places. Each piece is a unique exploration of the mind’s ability to translate the world’s complexities into abstract compositions.

My practice is deeply rooted in sustainability. Through the upcycling of clothing and the reuse of discarded materials, I transform what has been overlooked into new narratives of resilience and renewal. Textiles become landscapes, fragments become voices, and every stitch or brushstroke carries the possibility of reinvention.

I am a keen observer of people and the world around me, drawing inspiration from the kaleidoscope of human experiences. My work often blends acrylics, gouache, watercolor, charcoal, ink, and even unconventional materials like shoyu, creating layered surfaces that echo both fragility and strength.
