Practice & background
Born in Manila and based in New York, Jenny Santi is a Filipino artist whose painting moves between abstraction and botanical suggestion. Atmosphere, sensation and emotion take priority as she considers nature as an internal psychological space.
Having lived in Manila, Manhattan, London and Singapore, she often encountered greenery in brief fragments. Her painted gardens are consequently reconstructed through memory and imagination. Layered color and organic rhythms make nature a means of emotional grounding as well as a subject.
Santi’s background spans writing, philanthropy and psychotherapy, and she holds an INSEAD MBA. She trained at the Florence Academy of Art and the Art Students League of New York, studying nonobjective painting with James Little. These experiences inform a sustained practice of making and reflection.
Looking at the work
