Biography
Laurene Krasny Brown's work has appeared in solo exhibitions in New York, New England and Europe as well as in numerous juried group shows. Brown also has participated in several international residencies, most recently as a Visiting Artist at The American Academy in Rome. Currently she is at work on a series of domestic interiors built into folding paper stages. It is the having of a home that is very much at the center of her artwork now. Artist statement
My art making is grounded in the belief that the daily human rituals of domestic life and their physical presence in a home hold the secret to life's more memorable and authentic pleasures. It is with these often intimate acts and ordinary objects that we get things done but also where we can find joy, amusement and even beauty. With this in mind, I present original works in primarily paper assemblages, relief and freestanding structures.
