Practice & background
Lisa LaBracio decided to become an animator at ten. Her career spans independent film, documentary, education and nonprofit work, with an emphasis on participating in the many stages of production within collaborative teams.
With Anna Samo, she co-directed The Opposites Game, adapting a poem by Brendan Constantine. Her projects also include the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s #MetKids Create series, using animation to support curiosity and learning.
Her UNEARTH experiments search for motion in wood, bark, bottles and leaves. During a residency in Finland, the environment became a collaborator. The wooden set discussed in the interview likewise connects physical objects with digital moving images.
