P.C. Turczyn

Biography

P.C.Turczyn (1956), visual artist and nature empath, works in a co-creative process with nature’s intelligence while making intricately layered paintings. Her unique engagement with nature stems from her sensitivity to energy fields and subtle vibrations emanating from trees, the land and other nature beings.

Turczyn’s artwork has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in museums, galleries and cultural centers, including the Chelsea Art Museum, New York City; Metropolitan Museum and Art Center, Coral Gables, Florida; Museum for Textiles, Toronto; Omega Institute, Rhinebeck, NY; New York Open Center, New York City; Herndon Gallery of Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio; Selby Gallery of Ringling College of Art & Design, Sarasota, Florida; Muskegon Museum of Art, Muskegon, Michigan; Seed Gallery, Newark, NJ; Varga Gallery, Woodstock, NY; inFUSION Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; The Artcomplex Center of Tokyo Japan and Pacific Design Center, Los Angeles, CA.  In addition, her paintings are in private and corporate collections including those of P.Kaufmann, Inc., New York City; ACMAT Corporation, New Britain, Connecticut and Phipps Conservatory, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Her artwork has appeared in several publications, including the 5th Anniversary International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Special Edition of Light on Light, Spirituality & Health, Professional Artist, Holistic Primary Care, Reiki News, Green Living Magazine and New York Spirit. 

In 2016, Turczyn founded  The Tree Diaries: a lively, experiential online forum for tree lovers from around the globe. Her followers include artists, horticulturalists, arborists, shamans and healers.

She studied art at University of Michigan. After graduating in design from the Ontario College of Art, she worked as a textile designer for 35 years, honing her skills in pattern, color and the ability to imagine infinity. At the same time, her artistic inquiry began to focus on metaphysics, Sacred Geometry and ways that visual art can support the healing process. These continue to be fundamental issues addressed in her environmentally focused paintings today. 

Turczyn lives and works in two environments chosen for their close proximity to nature: rural Woodstock, NY and urban Brooklyn, near a 600 acre park and a botanic garden.

Artist statement

As an ecological artist, I focus on an empathic communion with nature’s intelligence through the making of intricately layered paintings. My ongoing work expresses how humanity and nature are integral parts of the web of life: reciprocal, interconnected and interdependent. 

As society begins to give legal recognition to the rights and personhood of nature, our next step is to invite nature beings to speak up. My hope is that viewers of my work will be inspired to explore a deeper perspective of nature as a partner, embodying a shared consciousness. Perhaps they will take the time to listen, and ultimately to collaborate.
