Practice & background
Ciavarella and Jack Kalish form Brooklyn-based Everything Good Studio, bringing together art, design and technology. In Who Art You, she identifies sharing work and seeing how it inspires people as a central reason for creating.
Their collaborative Allium draws on the clustered form of allium flowers. Participants connect two interaction points by joining hands, triggering a light sequence. The collective action becomes part of the artwork rather than simply a way to operate it.
The official project page documents a larger version with a modular structure and 480 mapped LEDs. Rachel led its physical design, engineering and fabrication, moving between Blender, Fusion, CNC and 3D printing, and pixel mapping for the TouchDesigner system.
Looking at the work
She builds cooperation into the interaction itself, translating bodily connection and collective action into light.
