Biography
Omaha-based artist Susan Knight is a Michigan native. She hand-cuts paper, Mylar, and Tyvek to create drawings, sculptures, and installations to express the physics of water and environmental water issues.
Her work has appeared in Sci-Art in America Online Magazine, Sculpture Magazine and the Smithsonian Online Magazine, Artland Magazine, University of Nebraska, and in The Water issue of the Department of Art and Public Policy at New York University.
She earned a BFA in art from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana, and attended The University of Notre Dame, The Glassell School of Art, Houston Texas, and The School of the Chicago Art Institute.
Artist statement
I hand-cut paper, plastic, Mylar, and Tyvek to create two-dimensional drawings, sculptures, and installations. My primary tool is a Xacto knife. My work distills into patterned compositions the structures and systems found in nature, with a concentration on the physics of water and in the soils that hold water.
