Practice & background

New York-based interdisciplinary artist teke cocina specializes in printmaking and artists’ books. Repeated imagery develops through series, making print a means of comparison, transformation and reconsideration.

Sources range from biblical heroes and saints to television, video games, comics and cartoons. Queer reinterpretations examine unstable boundaries between perception and illusion, and between affection, intimacy and violence.

cocina holds a BFA from the University at Buffalo and an MFA from SUNY Purchase. His experience includes printshop and instructional work at Parsons, guest teaching at Lower East Side Printshop and participation in the New York Queer Zine Fair.
