Biography
Photographer, with background in mathematics and physics, began serious fine art photography after retiring.
Although photography was always a part of me, photography as an art was not. Only when I was gifted a very good camera did I become interested in fine art photography. Reading and attending workshops opened my horizon and honed my practice, sharpening my ability and technique.
My tendency is to look for simplicity within profundity. Or, profound simplicity which I do not regard as an oxymoron. As such, most of my work is in black and white; color is often a distraction although color can sometimes add an important twist.
Principal photographic motivators are Alfred Stieglitz and André Kertész, but Roland Barthes' Camera Lucida, particularly his idea of punctum, is also a great influence.

I play with light -- and dark. Lines, shapes, shadows, and tones.
Images that imply direction -- sometimes beyond the frame.
