House of Green: Exterior

Pen and Ink on Paper 41" x 24" 2021 On March 15th Lois Bender invited me to a St. Patrick's Day Zoom Party--Get your Green on for a Green Rendez-vous!!! On the same day the New York Times ran a photo of this beautiful townhouse, the home of the Irish American Society and the subject of some wrangling as to ownership. I had to draw it andhow could it be anything other than green? Putting it under the sea felt fitting in light of the sense of disconnection from the continued quarantine, and the orange of the fish recalls the Irish flag.
