About the work

The interior pages of this book, “Stryker” are done with Sumi ink on fine newsprint. The covers are Sumi ink on double layers of Japanese rice paper, glued together and ironed. I use a lot of newsprint in printmaking for rolling excess ink off the brayer. These waste sheets, with ink roll-offs in various colors, can be as interesting as the prints. One day I thought it would be fun to throw sumi ink onto them to create another layer of depth. Then I threw ink onto plain sheets, and made them into this book.
