About the work
Collaborator Robin Michals and I painted this mural in the summer of 1985 as part of a 24-mural project by Artmakers on The Lower East Side called La Lucha Continua; Central America, South Africa, and The Lower East Side. The top row shows 6 portraits of leaders from South Africa and Central America. The second row shows 6 portraits of neighborhood people chosen by their peers to represent their community.
