About the work
In the 80s on Avenue B and East 2nd Street in The Village, a defunct gas station was turned into a performance cafe and sculpture garden Called Café 2B. On the roof was an old commercial billboard that was lit at night. Artists could apply to show work on a monthly rotating basis. This piece was shown there in 1986. It was recreated the following year for Martha Rosler's Homeless: The Street and Other Venues at the DIA Foundation in SOHO. In 2015 it was recreated for Not Yet curated by Jorge Ribalta at The Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid
