Biography
Jenny Saville is a British painter born in Cambridge in 1970. She studied at the Glasgow School of Art and is associated with the Young British Artists.
Her large-scale paintings bring the human body into close view. Layers of oil paint and visible revisions explore flesh, vulnerability and the conventions through which bodies are represented. Drawing and overlapping figures extend her practice between figuration and abstraction.
