About the work

The central panel depicts the killing of Dominican dictator Trujillo, ending his 30 year rule, as reconstructed from the accounts of the event. The uprooted tree and the goat skull in the lower left are my only embellishments, mocking the dictator as "The Goat." The title gives the date and time the deed was said to have taken place. The left panel shows Trujillo, himself, with one of his prize horses. He cared more for his cattle and his wealth than for the people's well-being. The right panel shows Trujillo's son, Ramfis, on being awarded the title of Colonel of the Armed Forces at age 4.
