About the work

This is an ecological statement. The "green canopy" is an obvious reference to the role of vegetation that's indispensable to sustain all life. The "thin blue line" is the thin layer of our fragile atmosphere, as observed from outer space. The entire piece is a shrine to nature, ensconced within a discarded wooden shrine, retrieved from a trash heap at a former church. The blue globe of the earth sits atop the green canopy in the upper part. A flagpole sitter, above that, demonstrates our daring to think of ourselves as above and outside of nature.
