About the work

Collage using hand-painted rice paper 30" x 13" 2021 On a 6-day rafting trip in the Grand Canyon in August 2020, I was inspired to paint a watercolor en Plein air of Deer Creek waterfall. I had the sketchbook, and brushes, and pigments with me. Later in my studio, I used this watercolor to make a larger work in collage. I hand-painted the rice paper with oranges, browns, and green for foliage and blue shades of water. I cut and pasted to get just the right shapes
